A BRIEF OUTLINE
Our company history
July, 1988
BERTECH (PVT) LTD

Tim and Eleanor Moore start their company out of their garage at home. They initially focus on precision machining, engine rebuilds and the supply of automotive engine spares.
1991
MOTOR TORQUE
The decision is made to decrease the amount of engine rebuilds and increase the volume of sales of the automotive engine spares. And with this evolution, a new trading company is born - Motor Torque.

THE LOGO

The first Motor Torque logo is designed.
1993
A NEW CHAPTER
A new premises is purchased on Orme Road, New Ardbennie. The new premises is renovated and the company is moved. This opens the doors to bigger clients. Sales in parts increase and Motor Torque continues precision machining and engine rebuilds for two more years.
1995
ALLOY WHEELS

A new opportunity presents itself and the company is redirected yet again into the aftermarket vehicle aesthetics.
Motor Torque lands its first agencies - Compomotive Motorsport Wheels, KN Wheels and Rimstock. All three are wheel manufacturing companies from the United Kingdom. Motor Torque introduces the first multi-piece and competition aftermarket alloy wheels to the Zimbabwean market.

1995
LOGO UPDATED

With the new direction of the company, the addition of a wheel is added to the Motor Torque logo. This design comes directly from the Compomotive RD wheel.
1996
TYRES
With the goal of becoming a one-stop-shop, Motor Torque starts sourcing tyres from local suppliers such as Bridgestone and Pirelli to compliment their wheels. The first tyre fitting and balancing machines are purchased and a new fitment centre is opened at the New Ardbennie premises. A new showroom is built with state of the art design and lighting to display the wheels and tyres.
1997
KONI | SIMBOLZ

1997 was a very important year for Motor Torque in which the company grows in focus to what it is today. Simbolz wheel safety locks (manufactured in Italy) are introduced - as yet another product to compliment the wheels and tyres. Motor Torque introduces Koni Shock Absorbers to the Zimbabwe market - competition shock absorbers and springs from The Netherlands. Motor Torque's new focus established - ``Suspension, Wheels and Tyres``. To compliment the shock absorbers, Motor Torque introduces the first shock absorber testing machine to Zimbabwe - The ``ShockTestTronic`` - developed by Koni. Space becomes extremely limited for stock and vehicles. Tim and Eleanor start looking for a new location with more shop frontage.

WORKINGTON
1999
After years of limited space and completely outgrowing the New Arbennie premises , a new site is found and purchased on Coventry Road, Workington. The space is 10 times bigger and has great frontage. Motor Torque moves in immediately and begins renovations.


2000
WHEEL REPAIRS
Motor Torque begins alloy and steel wheel repairs (straightening) including the weld repairs for alloy wheels.
2004
CONTINENTAL

With only paint to apply to the walls, the renovations are completed. This opens the door for Continental Tyres. Continental Germany meet with Tim and Eleanor after viewing the company's new premises. Continental agree to supply all paint for the new workshop. Motor Torque become the first Conti-Club in Africa.
Motor Torque lands its sixth agency and completes the Coventry road renovations.
2004
MICHELIN | BFGOODRICH

Motor Torque starts to import Michelin and BFGoodrich.
2008
THE CRASH
2006 - 2009
After 2 years of no restrictions, business in Zimbabwe comes to a grinding halt. The Zimbabwe dollar crashes. Zimbabwe is plagued with hyperinflation. Motor Torque is unable to import any products and are forced to source solely from local suppliers.
End of 2009
BREAKING POINT
The Zimbabwean dollar is removed from the market. The Zimbabwean people and companies are now able to freely trade in any foreign currency, with the United States Dollar being the preferred currency. Business picks up again. Doors are opened.
2010
THE REBOOT
The eldest Moore son, Royce, returns to Zimbabwe and joins the family business. Motor Torque has a fresh new start to carry on with their business and with their partners. Product starts to be imported once again. All products are analysed and Motor Torque begins moving forward again with a renewed focus and the idea of a wider product base.

BILSTEIN | LENSO

Two new agencies are singed on:
The partnership with ThyssenKrupp Bilstein Shock Absorbers - brings in a wider range of shock absorbers, air suspension modules, coil springs and service parts. This is Motor Torque's initial move to focus more towards the Mercedes-Benz market. Motor Torque also starts to bring in LENSO Alloy Wheels from Thailand.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Motor Torque does its first time wheel alignment with the latest Hunter Hawkeye 3-Dimension High-Definition wheel alignment machine. With the widest vehicle specification listing and the optional additional equipment purchased Motor Torque is able to accurately align vehicles according to the original manufacturers specification. The equipment includes:

DIGITAL AGE

Motor Torque launches its first website and social media accounts are set up on Facebook and Google.
2012
CORGHI | YOKOHAMA

Motor Torque starts importing another premium brand tyre - Yokohama.
Motor Torque introduces the latest technology in tyre fitting machinery from Italy. This is suitable to handle all armoured wheel and tyre systems including the Michelin Pax tyres and wheels.

EXTREME OFF-ROAD

Motor Torque introduces specialized 4x4 shock absorbers. Koni RAID shock absorbers and the Bisltein B8 5100. These applications come ready for extreme off-road and are suitable for raised vehicles.
Special machinery is introduced for motorcycle tyre fitment and balancing.

ARMOUR KITS

Motor Torque introduces the Bilstein kits for B4, B5, B6 and B7 armoured vehicles.
2014
MHT | RONDELL

MHT Luxury Alloys, USA is added as one of Motor Torque's biggest agencies to date. With this agency came with the biggest brand names for aftermarket wheels - DUB Wheels, FOOSE Wheels, FUEL Off-Road Wheels, Niche Road Wheels, Rotiform and US Mags - allowing Motor Torque the widest range of aftermarket alloys catering not only for the Jap Imports, Euro market and 4x4 market, but now also the American muscle car market.
To cater for a standard replacement for the Mercedes-Benz market, Motor Torque starts doing business with Rondell wheels, Germany (ROD Leichtmetallraeder GmbH) offering a strong simple wheel for Mercedes-Benz and other German vehicles.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Motor Torque extends its social media presence to 3 new platforms: Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.

BEST DRIVE

Motor Torque agrees to convert its shop into a Continental Best Drive franchise while still allowing the company to remain with multiple other agencies and continue trading under the name ``Motor Torque``.
2016
BIMECC

Motor Torque broadens its range of wheel nuts and bolts with BIMECC Engineering S.P.A. (Italy). Motor Torque now offers high quality bolts, nuts, studs and other wheel accessories. In addition to the original wheel bolts and nuts for all brands of vehicles on the roads of Zimbabwe.
2018
New Logo. New Look

The Motor Torque logo is updated for a third time. The new logo gives the company a new and ultra modern look and feel. Motor Torque starts preparing for an update on their website.
November 2019
New Logo. New Look. New Feel.

The new Motor Torque logo goes up on the building marking the finish to the renovations on the workshop. A new and modern look and feel to the building.
December 2019
